Opeth

After more than three decades at the forefront of the international rock scene, Swedish icons Opeth are set to deliver a monumental live experience at Dalhalla on August 29th, 2026 – a one-night-only performance in one of the world’s most breathtaking concert venues. Joining them as special guests to open the night are Candlemass and Katatonia.

Following the announcement of their special shows at Halifax Piece Hall and Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Dalhalla marks the band’s triumphant return to their home country, promising an unforgettable night for both devoted fans and new listeners.

Dalhalla’s natural acoustics and stunning surroundings make it the perfect setting for Opeth’s unique blend of darkness, beauty and musical precision. Fans can expect a rich and varied setlist featuring fan favourites, timeless classics and tracks from their most recent album ‘The Last Will and Testament’.

Recent winners of the Swedish Grammy Award 2025, Opeth continue to redefine the boundaries of progressive metal and live performance. As part of a limited run of special and exclusive venue shows across Europe in 2026, the Dalhalla concert stands out as a true highlight – for both the band and their audience.

Opeth remains a band that doesn’t always follow procedure and the norm.

SPECIAL GUESTS

Candlemass (SE)

Candlemass has been a leading force in epic doom metal since their formation in 1985. With legendary albums like Epicus Doomicus Metallicus and Nightfall, they have earned a rightful place in the history of heavy music. In 2025, the band celebrated their 40th anniversary with the release of the Black Star EP and continue to tour the world with undiminished power. With a Swedish Grammis win, a U.S. Grammy nomination, and a legacy carved in monumental riffs, Candlemass is an iconic addition to the Dalhalla stage alongside Opeth.

Katatonia (SE)

Katatonia continues to push boundaries with their 13th studio album Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State (2025) – one of their most personal, heavy, and progressive works to date. Since forming in 1991, the band has evolved from death/doom pioneers into genre-defining figures in progressive metal and alternative rock. Now, over three decades into their career, Katatonia remains a band in constant motion – full of new ideas, fresh energy, and an uncompromising artistic vision. We’re proud to welcome them to Dalhalla this summer.
